Haven IPA from Foothills Brewing
Foothills Brewing is one of my favorite NC breweries. Their black IPA Frostbite is a top 10 beer for me. Same with Hoppyum IPA, too. People’s Porter is one of my twin sister’s favorites.
Foothills’ beers are top-notch, and for the past few years they’ve been doing projects each year to push themselves. They had an IPA of the Month, a Hop of the Month, and this year they are doing something truly spectacular: their Craft Happiness IPA Project! From their website:
Craft Happiness IPA Project
“We love making IPAs. And we love helping our neighbors. So we came up with a way to do both. Each month the Craft Happiness Project will feature a new IPA, and dedicate a portion of sales proceeds to an area of need somewhere in our region. Because giving isn’t just about making a donation. It’s about making a difference.”
I love so much about this. New IPAs each month, donating to good causes, and giving back to the community….nothing to not love!
And speaking of nothing to not love, THIS BEER, Y’ALL. It pours a gorgeous golden color with a crisp white foam. The lacing of the foam is a 5 out of 5, leaving snowflakey residue along the edge of the glass. The aroma is absolutely wonderful. A sweet malty scent hits you, mixed with a slightly earthy hop presence.
With the first sip, this creamy, medium-bodied IPA leaves you awash in an almost honey-like sweetness, with a rich hop presence that’s dry and citrusy. It’s an end-to-end delicious beer with a light mouthfeel and a distinct bitter finish that give this beer a 5 out of 5 on Untappd for me.
Haven IPA is an easy-drinking 7% beer, and proceeds of this go to support rescue animals! Foothills knocked this one out of the park, and I’m excited to see what the rest of their Craft Happiness IPA Project creates!
